2342 Kalistani political crisis

The Kalistani Crisis of 2342 was a four year period of civil strife and near civil war that took place in Kalistan, primarily in Neveras and Vrassa. It was characterized by conflict between the long-established ruling parties, especially the Rights and Freedom Party, and newer political movements. The main opposition was from the moderate People's Front of Kalistan and the upstart progressive movement of the TomasianDouglasian Party. The crisis saw the mobilization of numerous militias, many terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and riots, and the short lived creation of two opposition governments, the Funkistan Commune which governed out of a small enclave in Vrassa, and the Kalistani Provisional Government made up of the PFK and TDP which actually took control of the national parliament in Kaliburg. The period ended surprisingly peacefully and quickly following the scheduled elections of 2346.

Probably the most important and longest-lasting effect of the conflict was the creation of KAOS, the Kalistani government security agency closely associated with the RFP.
