The 4741 Likatonian general election was an election held because the SWP party was dissolved. In the election the President of Likatonia and 100 memebrs of the Senate of Likatonia were elected. It marked the end of the 9th Senate.
In the presidential election, George A. Morgan from the National Union for Likatonian Prosperity was victorious over Emily Houward from the Social Democrats a second time, in a reapeat of the last election. This made George the President for a record fourth term. However, Emily did win the first round. This was mainly due to the support she got from the Labour Party. In the Senate, the NULP kept its support and the CRP gained one meaning the government could continue governing. However, most of the seats were gained by Lab with a significant amount going to SD too. This though can be mostly associated with the Socialist Workers Party dissolving before the election. All other parties also gained seats execpt for the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which lost one. This was also the first election that The Moderates competed on a national level.
Context[]
In the previous parliament the largest change was that a new right-wing government, named Gray cabinet, got into power. This government was in position of power for less than a year, so they didn't have time to pass many bills which would cause some significant changes in Likatonian policies. However, the most significant change was regarding abortion. According to the new law, abortion is now only allowed in medical emmergencies.

Government Formation[]
In this election the four major parties all saw an increase in vote share and out of the four parties the NULP were the only ones not to see an increase in seat share. However, most the seats were gained by the left wing parties with the Lab gaining 8 seats and SD gaining 4 seats. This was still seen as a win for the right and the Gray cabinet with the NULP retaining highest seat number in Senate ever while the CRP also gained one seat. This meant the Gray cabinet continued to govern Likatonia for the next 3 years.
