The 4956 Luthorian parliamentary election was an election held on September 5, 4956 to elect all 150 members of the Imperial Diet of Luthori.

The election took place after the dissolution of the Luthorian Pirate Party.

The New Luthorian Church and the Alliance both gained between 29 and 30% of the vote, while all parties gained seats and votes.

The NEW saw the biggest percentage of growth while the Alliance saw the lowest one.

Turnout for the election decreased under 70%.

Context

Ford I Cabinet and failure of the negotiations

The Ford I Cabinet with vacant seats, decided to act as a caretaker cabinet and still refused to negotiate with other parties.

Dissolution of the LPP

The Luthorian Pirate Party was dissolved by the courts for illegal use of public funds. This triggered an early election because its MPs had to resign.

Campaign

For the September 4956 elections, the National Movement campaigned "against the system, against the useless anti-democratic government".The party called democracy "a broken system" and vowed to replace it with a hereditary Imperator from the Hurrington family. Concerning the vacant government, the NM called Prime Minister Levi Ford a "corrupt, incompetent and unpopular" Prime Minister while asking for his resignation. The dissolution of the Luthorian Pirate Party is called a "victory" by the National Movement, because "the influence of our movement put the pressure on the deep state to ban harmful crazy parties". The party also campaigned in favor of measures to counter climate change and called the policies of the Alliance "out of touch with reality". In Shipleyriding, the local section of the party blamed the "environmental disaster" on "migrants from primitive cultures who do not know how to behave and respect nature".

In Orange, the NM used the popularity of incumbent governor Mark Jones to propel the party to the top. The Duchy of Orange is a stronghold of the National Movement, which is in power since 30 years. For the first time since 4880, no left-wing party was registered to participate in the election. Some left-wing associations encouraged voters to abstain, while others encouraged voters to vote for the New Luthorian Church in order to stop the Alliance and National Movement.
