The Davostag Armed Forces (Befäska: ᛏᚬᚢᚱᛁᚴᛁᛋ•ᚴᚱᛁᚴᛋᛘᛅᚴᛏ; tr. Dovriges krigsmakt; Skrigere: Dovriges krigsmagt, abbreviated DAF), or simply Krigsmakten (lit. "the war-power"), are the unified military forces of Davostag. It consists of four service branches: the Davostag Army, the Davostag Navy, the Davostag Air Force, the Davostag Military Police; there is also the Coastal Force which is an autonomous component of the Navy. The military branches are organized within the unified structure of the Military High Command, which is headed by the Chief of the Military High Command, and reports to the Ministry of Defence.

The Davostag Armed Forces has historically operated in its immediate regional sphere, using the informal fifth branch of the Foreign Operative Forces, but is mostly active within its own borders due to the semi-isolationist nature of Davostag.

History[]

The Davostag Armed Forces was founded in 4790 as the Davostag Defense Forces (Befäska: Dovriges försvarsstyrkor; Skrigere: Dovriges forsvarsstyrker, abbreviated DDF) after the Hutorian occupation formally ended in Davostag. The precursor to the DDF were the Third Republican Forces of the Third Kivonian Republic. In September 5389, Premier Erik Sundin signed a decree renaming the military to the Davostag Armed Forces (Befäska: Krigsmakten).

Command and control[]

The Davostag Armed Forces are commanded by the Military High Command (Militära Överkommandot; Militære Overkommando) which is headed by the Chief of the Military High Command (Chefen för det Militära Överkommandot; Chefen for den Militære Overkommando). The Military High Command is charged with the overall day to day administration, logistics and planning of the Davostag Armed Forces. The Davostag Ministry of Defence is the civilian-side of management of the Davostag Armed Forces. The two work in cooperation to make policy and carry out the wishes of the people of the Davostag state.

The Military High Command, also known as the Davostag High Command works closely with the Davostag government to create and craft policy for the government. It includes various departments and branches which manage the military of Davostag, it includes the commands of the Davostag Army, the Davostag Air Force, the Davostag Navy, the Military Police, the Foreign Operative Forces Command and the Military Intelligence Service.

Branches[]

The Davostag Armed Forces are divided into four primary branches:

  • Davostag Army (Dovriges Här; Dovriges Hær) - Chief of the Army General Staff (Chefen för Härens Generalstab; Chefen for Hærens Generalstab) and the Army General Staff (Härens Generalstab; Hærens Generalstab)
  • Davostag Navy (Dovriges Flotta; Dovriges Flåde) - Chief of the Navy General Staff (Chefen för Marinens Generalstab; Chefen for Flådens Generalstab) and the Navy General Staff (Marinens Generalstab; Flådens Generalstab)
  • Davostag Air Force (Dovriges Flygvapen; Dovriges Luftvåbe) - Chief of the Air Force General Staff (Chefen för Luftvapnets Generalstab; Chefen for Luftvåbnets Generalstab) and the Air Force General Staff (Flygvapnets Generalstab; Luftvåbnets Generalstab)
  • Davostag Military Police (Dovriges Miilitärpolis; Dovriges Militærpoliti) – Chief of the Military Police General Staff (Chefen för Militärpolisens Generalstab; Chefen for Militærpolitiets Generalstab)

These are the primary commands and branches of the Davostag Armed Forces. Underneath the Military High Command there are several other "branches" which are not full independent branches such as the Davostag Army, Navy, Air Force and Military Police but considered to be major integral components of the Davostag Armed Forces. These are the General Staff of the Security Department for Internal Affairs (Generalstaben för Säkerhetsavdelningen för Inrikes Frågor; Generalstab for Sikkerhedsafdelingen for Indre Anliggender), the Military Intelligence Service Command (Militära Underrättelsetjänstkommandot; Militær Efterretningstjenestekommando), the Davostag Coastal Force (Dovriges Kuststyrka; Dovriges Kuststyrke) and the Foreign Operative Forces (Befäska: Utländska Operativa Styrkorna; Skrigere: Udenlandske Operative Styrker).
