The status of a Bill refers to whether or not it has passed or failed after the conclusion of the voting. Bill statuses will either be:

  1. Passed: A Bill has been Passed by the legislature according to its rules. In the case of ordinary Bills, this will generally require a simply majority of all votes cast, but, in certain other occasions, it may need an absolute majority (more than half of the legislature), or some for of supermajority, in the case of constitutional amendments.
  2. Defeated: A Bill has failed to gain enough votes to pass. This may be because there were more votes against it than for it, or it could be because it did not gain a high enough portion of the legislature voting in favour of it, in the case of constitutional amendments and treaty ratifications.

After the voting on a Bill has ended and its status has been decided, the voting record on a party page will change depending on how the party in question voted. This will either be 'won', or, 'lost.
