Clara Aurora-Coalitio Sinistrae Radicalis (Luthorian: Bright Dawn-Radical Left Coalition), mostly known by the syllabic abbreviation Clara Aurora-COSIRA or simply COSIRA, is a left-wing to far-left political party founded in Selucia as the political heir of the historical In Marea-Citizens' Left from centuries ago, resulting from the political initiative of Artamo Commidus, the at-the-time general secretary of the youth organization of the party, the IUVIM.
Political stances[]
The main constituent element of the original coalition are the IUVIM, ideollogically placed in the left-wing political spectrum, but COSIRA was founded with a goal of uniting all the left-wing and radical left voters and groups, and had included a broad array of independent activists and ideologies from social democrats and democratic socialists to communists.
The party strongly promotes a secular ideology, being opposed to any form of privilege for any kind of religion.
Some political analists define the party as a "hard-left protest voice", while other see it as more populist in character, but all of them agree in its political heritage and main ideology coming from that that defined In Marea during its first times.
History[]
The idea to launch a new political party, related to In Marea but not bearing the same name to leave the political heritage of the party intact, came from the then general secretary of the youth of In Marea, the IUVIM, who despite the dissolution of their "adult party", had maintained itself over the centuries as an independent organization defending workers' rights. Faced with the increasingly authoritarian drift of the political leaders of the moment[1], the Duodecimviri, Artamo Commidus decided that it was time to launch a new political party that would collect the vote of those dissatisfied with the anti-democratic ways and policies carried out by the leaders of Selucia, who wanted to return the country to the times of the First Republic. Thus, together with various intellectuals and political leaders in 4799 before the start of the new century Bright Dawn was launched.[2]
Following the 4802 elections, the party became the most voted force and conquered also the Censorship and two of the five regional governments in what party officials claimed to be "a popular clamor from the society against the Duodecimviri and its policies". [3] However, the party lost the following elections, ending up in third place, losing its two regional governments, the position of Censor, and allowing the Selucian Traditional Movement to form a new government that pleaded to invert the previous reforms implanted by the COSIRA-NPLS coalition government.
Naevia Cosmas and Simo Iulius resigned from their positions following another defeat in the 4812 Selucian elections, resulting in Pyrgopolynices Auspex and Atilia Valerius being their replacements.
Following the 4817 Selucian elections, the party entered into a coalition government with the NPLS, and after the 4822 elections, Pyrgopolynices Auspex and Laetoria Genesius became Consuls of the nation after another agreement with the NPLS.
After the 4832 Selucian elections, the party won for the first time in 30 years the Censorship of the nation, resulting in Atilia Valerius becoming the Censor of Selucia.
The party was one of the main creators, along with the opposition party MTS, of the law on the Confederation of Selucia and the restoration of the Supreme Court.
Following the 4842 elections the party became once again the most voted political force in the nation, commanding a new cabinet with the NPLS. However, following the 4847 elections and the collapse of the NPLS, COSIRA lost the general elections to the MTS. After a controversial and heated debate in the Federal COmmittee of the party, it agreed to accept the MTS' proposal to form a coalition government with them, sparking criticism from militants and from the Olerian federation.[4]
In 4858, general secretary Portia Marsyas was forced to resign by the Federal Committee of the party, being replaced by Atia Gavia Bellator.
In 4905 the party suffered a severe setback after the death in a plane crash of Atia Gavia Bellator and Bacchis Celer-Priscian, Consules de Selucia for two decades.[5]
