The Clan of Knotpanya (ເຜົ່າກຶມມຸ) is a current minor and but recognized Royal Family in the Kingdom of Hanzen. The Khotpanya Clan is one of the oldest surviving yet obscure Royal Families in Dovani and Terra existing since the year 2218 as a wealthy farming family near the town of Na Sap.
History[]
The founder of the Clan of Knotpanya Mauli Knotpanya declared himself warlord in a successful coup against a previous ruler leading to several centuries of Knotpanya rule. They would be instrumental in the creation of the Golden Princedom of Suman in 2223 and they would dictate and lead the building up of Na Sap. Prince Mauli Knotpanya would build the Golden Temple of Suman which is devoted to Suman practitioners of Daenism. Despite their power in the region the Knotpanya's maintained good ties with the neighboring Hanzen state and would position Suman as a trade and commerce minor power in the region. The Clan of Knotpanya never took the title of King or Queen as it would disrupt the cultural tradition of the Suman region and thus they remained as Princes/Princesses and ruled Suman as a Princedom.
The Kingdom of Hanzen and the Golden Princedom of Suman would become closer and closer as decades went by and in 2709 they would be annexed by the Kingdom of Hanzen. The Kingdom of Hanzen for centuries was itself ruled by foreigners and the then Prince of Suman, Sonxai Khotpanya , feared that a foreign power would dethrone them and so they chose their close neighbor and friends the Kingdom of Hanzen to annex them.
The Clan of would swear fealty to the Kingdom of Hanzen and would retain their position as Prince/Princess of Suman serving as rulers of the now vassal state of Suman.
End of Rule[]
Their rule would come to a close on June 22nd 3355 when the last Prince of Suman Sengprachanh Khotpanya, was dethroned and the Princedom was abolished. This was not the end for the Royal Family however as rulers still considered themselves to be Princes and Princesses and still lived in their palace which was not located in Na Sap but in the country, this saved not only their home but their family from the now Independent Hanzense State that looked to abolish all monarchy.
When the Monarchy was brought back in the year 4472 with the reunification of Hanzen the Royal Family officially began doing semi-official duties once again and became the last minor royal family of Hanzen to exist. They were later given special status as an official but non political Royal Family in Suman and in public they are to be addressed by their formal title. The family is recognized by the Hanzenese Government but has taken no steps toward reclaiming their official title and governmental role in Suman.
