The Democratic Front was founded in june 4367, heir to the Labor Party (4341-4367) that pursues the following goals: work, justice and social rights for a rosy future to the Istalians, the FD also supports a moderate federalism.
The party has his own newspaper: the Corriere Democratico (Democratic Mail) where the Party publish updates about FD's political actions (primary elections, congresses and directory reunions), the headquarter of the FD is located in the city of Angona (Mezzodiurno).
The leadership of the party is entrusted to a directory, the FD voters every 8 years choose President and Secretary, they choose their deputies and the president chooses the leaders of the groups in the Chamber and in the Senate. These 6 forms the directory, which is the executive part of the party.
There are 2 faction: Liberals and Socialists, Liberals have always been the majority even though most members call themselves "liberal socialist", 2 Presidents of the FD did not declare themselves liberal-socialists, Piacente belonged to the socialist faction and the current President Renzo has always defined himself as liberal and is leader of the homonymous faction.
The 2 factions are the result of the Party's history, the socialists are the "heirs" of the political identity of the PLI while the liberals are those who followed Rosso when he founded the FD. As already mentioned, the liberals have always been the majority and according to the data of the last primary election they would be 76% of the Democratic base.

The FD has parteciped in 6 presidential elections, 2 time (4390, 4394) the candidate was supported by 0 parties, since 4398 the FD presidential candidate has always obtained other parties (center-left mainly) support. Following a list with every pres. election that the FD has contested.
