The Eersteliga (Talmorian for "first league") is the highest football league in Suid-Talmoria. This division consists of 8 clubs, each from different cities across Talmoria. The season is played as a round robin, with each team playing each other twice during the season, once at home and once away. Following the season, the league plays a three round tournament, with each round consisting of one game, with the winner advancing and the loser knock out. The bottom (worst) team is then regulated to the Tweedeliga before the next season, and the winner of the Tweedeliga tournament advancing into the Eersteliga.

DissolutionEdit

By December 2974, the government of Suid-Talmoria, after eleven years of league operation, decided to revoke support for the league structure of both the Eersteliga and the Tweedeliga. Promotion transitions were difficult, and were unsuccessful, for the first two teams promoted. This lead to the leagues to stop honoring the promotion/regulation system. The Tweedeliga faded away to obscurity by 2970. In January 2975, the government proposed a law dissolving the two nationally owned leagues and replacing them with one league serving the east of the country, and one league serving the west. Each league with ten teams.

ResurrectionEdit

After one year, the two new national leagues planned in the act dissolving the Eersteliga and Tweedeliga had amounted to nothing. Difficulty selling the two leagues to the public lead to the government scraping the plan, imposing instead a single national league, the Eersteliga.
