Sinsu (Kyo: 晨水, Draniano: Sinsu), officially Sinsu Metropolitan City, is a city in Dankuk. By population, it is the fourth largest city in the nation. The metro area of the city has about 1.8 million inhabitants.
Names[]
Historically, the modern city is roughly situated on the ruins of Seolgyeong, capital of the Singchae Kingdom. However, the city truly came into it's modern form with Egelian colonialization; Seolgyeong was renamed Iglesia Mayor and became the capital of colonial Drania. Gradually, Igelsia Mayor fell out of place and was subsequently superseded by the popular name Gran Norte.
The Kyo name for Sinsu has stayed consistent since the 4th mllenium.
History[]
There is few information about the city's history before the 2000s, because all according data has been destroyed when the National Archive burned down in two years before the turn of the century. Most of Gran Norte's traditional architecture was lost during a wildfire in 2100, and the government decided to rebuild it in a modern style. Only the districts around the old port were restored in their traditional style. Nonetheless, the city remains a valuable source of the old Colonial Style popular with Egelian colonists during their rule over the Peninsula, and now associated with the culture of the Draniano Republic. The city underwent a rapid economic development until 3000, when its population hit a peak with 9 million inhabitants.
Government & Politics[]
Today, Gran Norte serves as the capital of the DCCR. In the past, the city long served as the national capital of the Republic of Dranland and is home to many former governmental buildings. One of the most prominent of these buildings was the Government Palace, built in 2609, which was the residence of the Taoiseach and contained the offices of all ministries. In August 3780 the Government Palace was destroyed during violent unrest. The city was also once the seat of the Dranian Parliament, which was blown up by terrorists in the 3560s.
Gran Norte is run by a City Rowi; which is elected indirectly by workspaces.
