His Imperial and Most Illustrious Lutheran Majesty, Godric III, Defender of the Faith, by the Grace of God, Emperor of Hulstria, His Royal Majesty Emperor of Dolgaria, His Royal Northern Highness Great Prince & Tsar of Trigunia, His Royal Highness Grand Duke of Sisula, His Royal Majesty King-consort of Kizenia (b. October 9th, 2990, Fliederbrunn Palace, Kien, Greater Hulstria - d. September 10th, 3076) was the reigning monarch of the Imperial Crownlands of Greater Hulstria, the Great Princedom & Tsardom of Trigunia, and dual monarch in the Empire of Dolgaria. Godric's consort, Hikaru, also held the title of Queen of Kizenia after the death of Silvia I in the early 3070s but Godric did not reign as a dual monarch though rather held the title of King-consort. Godric III was the first child and son of Leopold I of Hulstria and Princess Anna Svatý-Poděbrad of Deltaria. Godric III was the older brother to Archduchess Stephanie of Hulstria and Archduke Klemens, Sultan of Al'Badara. Kaiser Godric was a descendant of the Duke of Alazinder, an old Deltarian noble title; Godric's mother was the sister to the Duke of Alazinder and pretender to throne of Deltaria, Vaclav I, as Czar. Godric's paternal grandparents were Rainer V of Hulstria and Rosaline, Countess of Liore and his maternal grandparents were Anatoliy, Duke of Alazinder, and Alexi, Countess of Anzhelina. The Emperor was cousins with the Archduke Frederick I of Vorona, and monarch Reinhard I of Luthori, including Alexander I of Rutania through Archduke Godric's great maternal aunt, Archduchess Aleksandra, and the Dranian monarchy. The Emperor was married to fellow monarch, Hikaru I of Dolgaria & Kizenia, and co-ruled with her within the Dolgarian court; the imperial couple had four children; Heinrich III of Hulstria, Balthazar I of Hulstria, Archduchess Victoria, and Archduke Viktor. His only daughter Archduchess Victoria is currently married to the Crown Prince of Aloria and his son who became the Emperor following his death is married to Beatrix von Rommel.

Then Crown Prince Godric of Hulstria ascended to the Hulstrian throne in June of 3037 following the death of his father, Leopold I of Hulstria, and inherited the title of His Imperial and Most Illustrious Lutheran Majesty, Godric III, Defender of the Faith, by the Grace of God, Emperor of Hulstria upon his coronation. Godric was styled as the pretender to the throne of Trigunia since at the time that nation was under different rule. The new Emperor took his regnal name from Godric II of Hulstria. The newly coronated Kaiser assumed the throne at a tense period of international affairs, mainly brewing from the Darnussia-Keymon War which ended in the occupation of the Keymon island and pitted the Kingdom of Hutori against many Rothingren-Traugott monarchs for many years to come. Domestically Godric III enjoyed a peaceful court within Greater Hulstria and political stability in Dolgaria with his consort. Hulstrian and Dolgarian culture thrived. Godric would see later on in his reign the restoration of the Great Princedom & Tsardom in the 3050s due to the return of the House of Mashkov and was crowned the reigning Great Prince & Tsar of Trigunia following the restoration, once again holding the nations of Greater Hulstria and Trigunia in personal union. Later in his reign Godric III would re-establish relations with the House of Battenburg, worked to help Saridan create a constitutional monarchy, and saw his consort become Queen of Kizenia.

Early Life[]

His Imperial Majesty Archduke Godric of Hulstria, Prince of Tirgith was born on October 9th, 2990, to then Crown Prince Leopold of Hulstria, and Princess Anna Svatý-Poděbrad of Deltaria; their first child, the Archduke was given his primary name after Godric II of Hulstria, and was born at Schloss Fliederbrunn surrounded by family and close relatives. As an adult the Archduke would share several physical characteristics with Godric II, making his choice of name by his parents very fitting. When Godric assumed the throne in 3037, the Archduke would take up the regnal name of Godric III. Archduke Godric's paternal grandparents were Rainer V of Hulstria and Princess Rosaline, Countess of Liore, and his maternal grandparents were Anatoli, Duke of Alazinder, and Zinoviya, Countess of Svekogorsk; Godric's maternal uncle was the Czar of Deltaria. The Archduke's paternal uncle, brother to Princess Rosaline, was Gustavus II of Luthori. While the Czar of Deltaria was alive during Archduke's birth, Godric never met his paternal uncle Gustavus II of Luthori who died five years before Archduke Godric's birth.

Archduke Godric was very close to his father and as a child grew up to idolize Ferdinand II of Hulstria, his great paternal grandfather. The Archduke was brought up under the banner of Hulstrian and Trigunian culture though did receive Deltarian influence from his mother. Godric was close to all his siblings and as the eldest brother took on the duty to watch over them as a teenager. He was also close to his cousin, Archduke Otto, and his paternal uncle Archduke Franz. As a child the Archduke suffored from labyrinthitis that caused him to experience ear pain and infections; private doctors were able to treat him early on but Godric still did suffer as an adult and Emperor some minor sensitivity issues within his inner ears. Such information was kept private from the public but documents revealing these facts were released well into Godric's adulthood.

Heir to the Throne[]

His Imperial Majesty Archduke Godric of Hulstria became the heir to the thrones of Greater Hulstria and Trigunia, including to the Grand Duchy of Sisula in the newly restored Barmenia monarchy, following the death of his paternal grandfather Rainer V of Hulstria. The young Archduke was close to his paternal grandfather and the death had saddened the young Rothingren-Traugott royal; the young Archduke Godric maintained his posture nevertheless during the large funeral proceedings held at the Hulstrian National Cathedral and walked behind Rainer V's casket with his father, now Kaiser Leopold I of Hulstria, when it was being transported to Fliederbrunn through the streets of Kien. Many media outlets applauded the Archduke's disposition during the funeral. The Archduke's paternal grandfather reigned for nearly a quarter of a century, passing away in the year 3000, Terra's start of a new millennium; Godric's father, Crown Prince Leopold, became the new Emperor of Hulstria as per the regulation to the succession to the Hulstrian throne and was formally coronated a week after the funeral as Kaiser Leopold I. Archduke Godric was given the title of His Imperial Majesty Archduke Godric, Crown Prince of Hulstria and His Royal Northern Highness Hereditary Prince of Tirgith during the same coronation ceremonies at the young age of ten. The Crown Prince's age became a matter of security for the Imperial Guard, the Kaiser's personal protection force; Kaiser Leopold was highly protective over his child during his early years as Crown Prince and ordered the Imperial Guard to closely protect Godric. There was always a unit attached to the young child throughout his later childhood and early years as a teenager.

The Crown Prince remained mostly in Greater Hulstria, his home country, during most of his life but had gone back and forth to nations such as Luthori and Vorona where relatives had been reigning as monarchs. Since Trigunia in the early years of the 3010 decade fell to communist rule, Crown Prince Godric was not able to travel to the Keris nation as much as his ancestors who reigned on that throne. The Crown Prince loved to travel and accompanied his father on many foreign visits, establishing himself early on among the leaders of the international stage. Later on in his life the Crown Prince would take on studies of geography in his university years.

Education & Military Career[]

As a child Archduke Godric attended independent school and continued to do so until his teenage years. For his secondary education the Crown Prince enrolled in military school in Hulstria which prepped the Crown Prince to take on a Naval career later in his life like his father Leopold I who served during the Great Sekowian War as a Commodore. Following graduation, leaving in the top 5% of his class, the Crown Prince enrolled into the Karl III Military Academy (again following in his father's footsteps). Leopold stressed to the Crown Prince very much about taking on a naval career in the military and that, along with the family's strong tradition of serve in the Imperial Navy, most likely led the Crown Prince to take up this form of education. The Crown Prince took up the studies of geography and economics, earning a major in the latter. During his time at the Karl III Military Academy, the Crown Prince met the acquaintance of Diederich von Lutzberg, son of the Baron of Lutzberg; the two would form a close friendship and Diederich would later be appointed by Godric as Emperor to head His Imperial Majesty's Council on Colonial Military Affairs in the 3040s.

Marriage[]

Emperor of Dolgaria[]

With his marriage with Empress Hikaru of Dolgaria, as noted Godric was given the title of Emperor of Dolgaria, and reigned as a dual monarch with her. The Crown Prince had not yet assumed the throne in Greater Hulstria and Trigunia which made his new title unique. While his wife held the most power over her realm, the two jointly governed the affairs the monarch in the Imperial Dolgarian Court.

Emperor of Hulstria[]

Archduke Godric, Crown Prince of Hulstria, was crowned Emperor of Hulstria in 3037 following the death of his father, Leopold I of Hulstria. The Kaiser had been in poor health for several months prior to his death and had allocated several responsibilities to his son in his incapacitated state. Leopold I originally assumed the throne in the year 3000 after the passing of Rainer V of Hulstria and saw through several domestic and international events. The most recent event before his death was the Darnussia-Keymon War where the nation of Darnussia and its allies faced against the Dictatorship of Keymon and the Kingdom of Hutori, the latter a long-time adversary of the House of Rothingren-Traugott. Leopold I and Greater Hulstria allied with Darnussian coalition but the war ended before Hulstrian troops were deployed as Darnussia invaded Keymon in a surprise attack and occupied it as Hutori withdrew from the war, ending the fighting. The Crown Prince acted as a liaison between Kaiser Leopold's Imperial Diplomatic Office and the Foreign Office of Darnussia, transfering back information to his father. The Hulstrian Foreign Ministry as well played a part. The conflict was to be the last major event for Leopold I and the first major start for the upcoming Kaiser.

On June 19th, 3037, Leopold I of Hulstria passed away at Fliederbrunn Palace at the age of 81. Reigning for 37 years, the Kaiser was surrounded by family, and outside the palace gates thousands gathered in mourning. The newly elected Governor-General of Greater Hulstria Franz-Rudolf von Oskarhäust called in unison with the Crown Prince a period of mourning for Leopold I and his funeral was set to be held in a week within his death. Godric's coronation ceremonies would be held a week after the funeral where he would be formally crowned the monarch of Greater Hulstria and its territories. Leopold's funeral was attended by several foreign delegates and monarchs, including many Ministers within His Imperial Majesty's Government including the Staatsminister herself, the Duchess of Strauss. Hundreds of thousands of Hulstrian citizens filled the streets of Kien and outside the Hulstrian National Cathedral to catch a glimpse of the their former Kaiser as his motorcade rode through the streets of the capital. Leopold I ruled as a traditionalist conservative monarch and stressed as Emperor the need for moral and civil order, as well as cooperation among the people to maintain a strong Empire. Leopold gained praise from his subjects for maintaining order himself in the Hulstrian Court while the Trigunian Court seemed to be in chaos with communist rule and the rise of the Doroshenkos, the latter imposing an autocratic, discriminatory regime that lasted until they were ousted from power in the mid 3000s. Godric would see the return of the Trigunian monarchy under Rothingren rule later in his reign.

Godric III ascended to the throne of Greater Hulstria in a period of conservative and peaceful rule. With Hulstria's strong economic ties to several international states, including the personal union state of Dolgaria and having ties to the Kingdom of Kizenia, the Hulstrian economy went through a sustainable boom period in the 3040s. In the early years of Godric's reign saw closer bonds being formed between Rothingren-Traugotts and the royal families of Dundorf and Malivia. The latter nation even saw the head of the House of Hunter elected President of Malivia, advancing the call for a Hunter restoration in that nation with Kaiser Godric III being one of those voices from the international stage. Godric's son, Crown Prince Heinrich of Hulstria, in the later part of the 3040s would go onto marry the daughter of the head of the House of Rommel from Dundorf, due to these close relations. The Rommel family held the monarch once in the history of Dundorf though sits on the council that determines and votes on who becomes the monarch of Dundorf. Keeping in the realm of foreign policy, Godric III continued the long-standing Rothingren alliance with the House of Santiago in the Kingdom of Drania by maintaining communications with Carlos II and welcoming Laurencia I of Drania (both of whom cousins of the Hulstrian monarch) when she became Queen in 3045 in a royal state visit in Kien.

Going into the 3050s, the internal political situtation of Greater Hulstria remained centre-right and under the leadership of the KHP-FGP-NNP "Imperial Conservative" cabinet government. The re-emergence of the Strauss family into Hulstrian politics also marked this period, with members like the Duchess of Strauss, and her second child Eduard maintaining strong positions within His Imperial Majesty's Government. The election of Maximilian Berleburg as Governor-General in 3052 seemed to strengthen the hold of the conservatives, that is until the spring of 3054 where the country was plunged into a period of uncertainity when Governor-General Berleburg suffored a stroke, putting the office at a standstill. The stroke was discovered to be more severe than first thought and the government moved into action to replace the incapicated Berleburg. The Staatsminister of His Imperial Majesty's Government Vitus von der Mar called an emergency session of the Imperial Diet and moved forward to propose a motion to replace Maximilian Berleburg with an acting Governor-General to serve out the rest of his term, which was slated to end in 3053. Vitus von der Mar, along with Russell von Korneuschlag, proposed the Act of Governor-General Succession before the Imperial Diet. The Act of Governor-General Succession proposed giving the powers of appointment for the acting Governor-General to the monarchy; the appointment would have to go through a vote of consent from the Imperial Diet. Vitus von der Mar had an audience with the Emperor before the emergency session was called where it was later confirmed Godric III gave consent to a move by His Imperial Majesty's Government to replace Maximilian Berleburg and did accept the powers given to him by the Act of Governor-General Succession. The act gave the monarch full power to nominate anyone at his will and Godric III proceeded to appoint then acting Foreign Minister Eduard von Strauss to replace Berleburg and serve out the rest of his term. The Imperial Diet quickly consented to the appointment, passing the Act of Governor-General Succession, and Strauss formally succeeded Berleburg as the Governor-General of Greater Hulstria. Berleburg would die a month later and was given a full military funeral.

Eduard von Strauss priorly served at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the 2920s before Godric III ascended to the throne as Emperor of Hulstria. Strauss then was a strong supporter of Godric's father, Leopold I of Hulstria, and was one of the leaders of the noblility bloc of the Imperial Diet. Eduard's mother was the Duchess of Strauss and served as Staatsminister of His Imperial Majesty's Government for nearly 25 years, serving under both Leopold I and Godric III; Eduard was the second child of the Duke and Duchess of Strauss. She as well as close to the monarch due to her position as the head of government. Eduard's work in the Foreign Ministry had earned him high ranks and recognition among the political circles of Kien; when the Kaiser was considering who to appoint to serve out the rest of Berleburg's term, Eduard von Strauss' name was on the short list. His eventual appointment by the monarch would serve as another testament to the strong ties between the ruling Rothingren-Traugott family of Greater Hulstria and the House of Strauss, a connection that has been around for centuries. Eduard von Strauss' ascendance to the Governor-General's office also reinforced the Strauss name in Kien and solidified their return to the political fabric of the nation. Eduard von Strauss would serve out the rest of Maximilian Berleburg's term until March 3055 when general elections were held and Russell von Korneuschlag of the Faschistische Gewalt-Partei was elected to a full term. Later on that year Strauss would leave the Foreign Ministry to become the Head of Government.

Tsar & Great Prince of Trigunia[]

GodricMonarchPortrait12

Portrait of Great Prince & Tsar Godrik II of Trigunia

At the time of Godric's coronation in 3037 as Great Prince & Tsar of Trigunia he was styled as pretender to the throne, retaining, and affirming the Rothingren-Traugott claim over the throne of Trigunia. Recognized by the International Monarchist League as the rightful claimant to the monarchy, Godric's father Leopold was disposed in a communist coup during the early years of the 3010 decade and was contested with a rival political group who came to power in the mid 3020s. Before the rise of this group, known as the Doroshenko family, another administration took power away from the communists under Mikhail Maskhadov. He'd be ousted in a coup and the Doroshenkos came to lead the nation, claiming the throne. Despite the contention, the IML maintained its recognition of the Rothingrens, and Godrik II acted as the pretender to the throne of Trigunia as His Royal Northen Highness Godrik II, Great Prince & Tsar of Trigunia until the 3057 restoration. The Doroshenko period would be marked by ethnic discrimination and a civil war.

The Doroshenkos's themselves would be ousted from power following the Kozak War of Independence in 3048. The nation of Trigunia would not see another period of stability until the mid to early 3050s when the Molodaya Gvardiya Partiya returned to the Trigunian political scene and restored order, eventually pushing through a restoration of the House of Rothingren-Traugott to the Trigunian throne.

Restoration[]

The Kozak War of Independence left a lasting impression among the political scene in Trigunia for the next decade that a drastic change of course was needed and that the nation needed to return to order if it may ever reclaim its past glory. Both religious and ethnic discrimination and violence marked the policies of the autocratic Doroshenko regime that forced the exile of many ethnic groups and conflict amongst each other; many of these exiled groups were offered asylum in the Kingdom of Dolgaria. The civil war marked the end of the Doroshenko regime but did not bring much stability to the government for the next several years. The House of Mashkov, a noble house that had previously been the champion of the last Rothingren restoration under Maximilian VII in 2903 and close representatives of the Great Prince, began to make their return to the Trigunian landscape in the mid 3050s. Godrik II had been in contact with the head of the House of Mashkov and was aware of their return, as well as their intended plans to not only restore the monarch but to completely reverse many of the old Doroshenko laws that were not overturned by the Kozaks. The Molodaya Gvardiya Partiya, led by Pavel Romanovich Mashkov, 6th Duke of Petrovgrad sweep to power in a special election, and quickly regained control over the nation, passing sweeping reforms. The Duke of Petrovgrad proposed landmark legislation that included the "Declaration of Freedom & Right of Return of Exiles, Hulstro-Trigunian, & Lutherans" and other major constitutional changes that included the restoration of the House of Rothingren-Traugott to the throne of the Great Princedom & Tsardom of Trigunia in January of 3057.

Godrik II returned to Trigunia in a large, festive ceremony that included the Great Prince & Tsar addressing the Trigunia people on national television from the monarch's office in the Bear's Den that hailed the return of normalcy and order in the Trigunian lands. The restoration marked the return of the cooperation between the monarch and the House of Mashkov, the latter being one of the strongest proponents of the monarchy in the nation; Pavel Romanovich Mashkov, 6th Duke of Petrovgrad, returned to rule as the Viceroy of Trigunia, and many reforms were initiated.

Imperial Court in the 3050s & '60s[]

The restoration of the Hulstro-Trigunian personal union and the Trigunian monarchy was one of the defining moments of the Imperial Court under Godric during the 3050s however other events also marked his reign during this decade that would shape the future of his reign. In the early 3050s Godric's first son and child, Archduke Heinrich (entering his 30s), began to establish a relationship with Beatrix von Rommel, the daughter of the head of the Haus von Rommel in Dundorf. Beatrix's father was Aloysius von Rommel and held the title of Kurfürst, or Prince-Elector of Dundorf, allowing his family to take part in the elections to determine the monarch of Dundorf. The Rommels themselves served as the monarch of Dundorf at one time under Maximilian Gustav IX von Rommel in the 2800s. Heinrich and Beatrix met during a visit by Crown Prince Heinrich to the landlocked nation of Dundorf and the two started a relationship that would last for several years until they married in 3055 in Kien. The marriage created a new natural alliance between the two families which never had previously had constant communications. Kaiser Godric III consented to the marriage and took an interest in Beatrix von Rommel, encouraging his son to marry her. Her similar religious and cultural standards stood out to the Kaiser; the Rommel's history of military service also impressed Godric.

Personal Life[]

Duties & Responsibilities[]

As the monarch of Greater Hulstria and Trigunia, as well as a dual monarch in Dolgaria, Godric has many responsibilities and duties he must see through. In Greater Hulstria Godric III serves as the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armed Forces and is responsible for appointing all high-level military officials in all branches of the Imperial Armed Forces. The Kaiser chairs his own office that oversees military operations in the colonies, called "His Imperial Majesty's Council on Colonial Military Affairs", and appoints a presiding officer over the council to handle day-to-day issues that are brought up before the council that the Kaiser can not attend to. The Ministry of Defense of Greater Hulstria holds the power to regulate to the Imperial Reserves of Hulstria and appointment powers over special administrative posts, such as the Director of the Imperial Marine Training Facilities. Defense funding is left to the Diet to determine and troop allocation during peacetime is regularly left to the Ministry of Defense as well. Policing duties in the colonies is left to the His Imperial Majesty's Colonial Police which is connected to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Nonetheless the monarch obtains its own special, and executive powers concerning military matters.

Politically in Greater Hulstria the monarch maintains an apolitical stance. The Kaiser acts as a symbol of unity and confidence among the Hulstrian people. This doesn't prevent though close relations between the monarch and the Staatsminister, the head of His Imperial Majesty's Government; the two regularly meet every week to discuss matters of the State in private. Godric III is the head of the Lutheran Church of Hulstria and appoints religious leaders, though can delegate these duties elsewhere in the Church. The Kaiser also holds the power to appoint "Crown Commissioners", which act as the monarch's judicial and political representative in the Imperial Crownlands; Crown Commissioners serve ten year terms.

Ancestry[]

Template:Ahnentafel-compact5

The Emperor has a large amount of descendants of Deltarian noble blood from his mother's side, including the Duke of Alazinder, which claims the throne of Deltaria. Godric's maternal grandfather was the Duke of Alazinder until his death and was passed onto Vaclav I, the brother of Godric's mother. On his father's side Godric is a descendant of many foreign monarchs and heads of royal families, including George III of Luthori, Leopold II of Central Macon, George VI of Talmoria, and the Archduchess of Vorona.
