Incumbent High Chancellor Alicia Hauet

The High Chancellor of Lourenne is the head of the government of Lourenne and the highest ranking minister in the Lourennais cabinet. The High Chancellor is responsible for chairing the cabinet, acting as a spokesperson for the government, directing government policy, advising the Queen on political affairs as well as leading the Department for Constitutional Affairs.

Appointment and authorityEdit

The High Chancellor is formally appointed by the Lourennais monarch through a royal decree. By unwritten convention, the monarch allows the Royal Assembly to pass a non-binding "cabinet proposal" before inviting the High Chancellor to form a government. In recent times, a degree of political consensus has led major parties to form coalition governments even when doing so would not be necessary. The country's two major parties are currently engaged in a "grand royalist coalition".
