Istapali, formally known as the Federal Republic of Istapali (Dundorfian: Bundesrepublik Istapali) is a sovereign state located in East Dovani. Istapali is among the largest countries in the world by total land area and borders five other countries: North Dovani to the north, New Englia and Suyu Llaqta to the east, and Liore and Mina to the west.

Istapali was previously a colony under the control of Hulstria.
Istapali is among Terra's most desert-filled nations. Much of the central portion of the country is covered by the Quetzalxochitl-Huitztonqui Desert, which is iconic for its series of geoglyhs commmonly referred to as the Quetzalxochitl-Huitztonqui Signs.
Government and politics
Istapali has a federal structure.
The President is the national head of state and the most powerful figure in the federal government. He is elected through a electoral college system in which every state is allocated a number of electors primarily based on their population sizes. The President has the right to propose his own cabinet, with some positions having to be approved by the Senate. There is a total of 12 full cabinet positions with their deputies appointed by the different ministers themselves. These are:

The departments are led by a secretary and their deputy. All secretaries have to be confirmed by the senate with the exception for the secretary of trade and industry and the secretary of Health.
Politics and elections
The most succesful political party has been the Socialist Party. Other political parties in the country used to be the Republican Party, People First and the Movement for National Strength. Currently the two main parties in Istapali are the Democratic Republican Party and the New Labour Party.
Istapali has a federal constitution and an entrenched political culture of federalism. Below the national level, the country is divided into 32 states and 4 federal cities. Each has its own status within the constitutional structure and there are differences between the categories and within them. As a general rule, states hold general autonomy on most domestic matters while federal cities fall completely under federal law. Federal cities have the least autonomy, notably lacking official constitutions of their own and managed by the federal government.
Istapali's closest allies are its neighbours who were also ruled by Hulstria.
The Istapalian economy relies heavily on exporting goods.

Religion in Istapali is a mix between traditional belief systems and the Hosianism of Hulstrian settlers.
