Michael Hadrianos, long-time chairman of the PRCP and instigator of the Civil War, was shot on October 12, 2570 in a vile and cowardly attack on his motorcade as he was taking a tour of Adrianopolis, with his wife sitting next to him. Hadrianos was days away of reaching his 45th birthday and many celebrations were planned. Although the perpetrator was never caught, all fingers were pointed and remain pointed towards the Union.
After the attack, Jane Lahaut was elected as new party leader. She would continue where Hadrianos left off, and declared him a martyr. During her leadership the city of Ihmetellä fell at last to the Confederation and was renamed to New Bestat in honour of Peter Bestat, leader of the DNP.
