Joseph Hundya II of the house of Hundya (3050-3119) was a Raja of Malivia. He was married to Elizabeth of Islyn, an offspring of the House of Islyn (who have been rulers of both Kalopia and Kazulia in the past), and has three children: Sarah (*3076), Joseph (*3080) and Gunther (*3087). He was the third candidate for HoS of the Gerajan Welfare Party, and the first Raja of Malivia since the abolishment of the monarchy.
His Life before the Monarchy[]
Joseph Hundya II was born as Josef Hunter in 3050 in Malivia as the third child of his father, whose name, due to a now obsolete tradition of the Hunter Family to call each first-born son Joseph (the name of the last Maharaja of Malivia) until the Family would reign again, was also Joseph.
Joseph Hundya grew up in a very political environment, since his father was a leading figure in the Gerajan Welfare Party, which actively sought to reintroduce the theocratic monarchy Malivia had been for centuries. After his father's death in 3080, Joseph Hunter became the next heir to the Malivian throne, and was introduced as next candidate for HoS by the Gerajan Welfare party. He was elected for the first time in 3084, but could only gain enough influence in his second term in 3090. Until then he was mainly concerned with the support of the Gerajan faith and the well-being of the Malivians, who he felt suffered under the government of the Konservative Partei Malivia, and not so much with the leading of the party, and the gathering of political power.
After the Reinstallment of the Monarchy[]
After the Monarchy was reintroduced in the years after 3090, Joseph Hundya II changed the last name Hunter to the Malivian equvalent Hundya, and became the second Raja of this name to rule the Kingdom of Malivia. His full title is His Gerajan Majesty, Maharaja of all Rajas, King of Kings, Prince of Princes of Malivia, Protector of the Faithful, Leader and First Guru of the Geraja, Lord of Polkana, Lord-Protector of Dendar, Sultan of Washibar and the Washite Isles, Highking of Itaki, Archprince of the Highlands of Walkunia and Great-Guphta of the Nether Walkunia; Defender of the Gerajan Creed, Guardian of the Malivian Sea, and as the Raja he is also the highest leader of the Gerajan religion. He has since been very devoted to Geraja, the communication and benevolent leadership of the different factions of Geraja, and in general the well-being of his subjects.
Assassination[]
Joseph was killed in a terrorist attack at 4:34 AM on the 13th of July.
Here is an account from the national newspaper:

(Luthori) «Today, in the early hours of the morning, His Gerajan Majesty, Maharaja of all Rajas, King of Kings, Prince of Princes of Malivia, Protector of the Faithful, Leader and First Guru of the Geraja, Lord of Polkana, Lord-Protector of Dendar, Sultan of Washibar and the Washite Isles, Highking of Itaki, Archprince of the Highlands of Walkunia and Great-Guphta of the Nether Walkunia; Defender of the Gerajan Creed, Guardian of the Malivian Sea, Raja Joseph Hundya II. was killed in a terrorist attack.
This terrorist, whose identity is not yet known, positioned himself on the far side of the bridge, and, as soon as the Raja reached the top in the middle of the bridge, opened fire from a machine gun he had been able to bring into the palace. Neither the Raja or any of his entourage were able to escape this devastating attack. Besides the Raja, his five guardsmen, and four other members of the palace staff were killed. Finally, when the murderer could be sure that none of his victims were alive anymore, he shot himself with some kind of ceremonial revolver, the exact origin of which still has to be determined.
Of course, the whole nation is in shock - and no one more than the royal family, especially the oldest son of Joseph Hundya II., who has now become the new Maharaja of all Rajas Joseph Hundya III. The burial of the old Raja is held in a month, and attendance of many of the crowned heads of Terra is to be expected. The official crowning of the new Raja, and the ceremonial bathing that introduces the new leader of the Gerajan faith, will be after a mourning period of one year. There is no hint for now on the identity of the terrorist or the group behind the attack, however, new, stricter security measures for the palace have already been introduced, and the police has made this case of course their top priority.» |
The attack was believed to have been carried out by the Freda Church.
