The Liberal Party is a Luthorian liberal party founded in 4979. The party is lead by Simon Sambrook, which formed two cabinet and led the party to an historical 36.88% of the vote in the 4994 parliamentary election.

The party is known for its socially liberal reforms passed while Sambrook was Prime Minister and the privatisation of healthcare in most duchies in 4996.

History

Founded in 4979, the party quickly rises to prominence under the leadership of Simon Sambrook.

In the 4980 parliamentary election, the party enters the Diet for the first time with 3.25% of the vote.

Five years later, in 4985, the LP becomes the second largest party with over 22% of the vote. Two months later, the party gains its first governor in the duchy elections.

The LP forms the Sambrook I Cabinet in 4985. The Cabinet focused on socially progressive reforms and repealed some authoritarian laws passed by the previous cabinets. In 4988, the party is sent in the opposition.

The subsequent elections led to the party rising even more and reaching 27.71% of the vote.

An agreement is reached in December 4991 and the Sambrook II Cabinet is formed. The new cabinet legalised abortion, prostitution and pornography as well as homosexuality in the military. In 4994, the party wins the elections in a landslide. In the parliamentary election, the party gained almost 37% of the vote, while in the duchy elections, the Liberal Party wins all five duchy governors. In the following years, a major decision of the Liberal Party was to totally privatise healthcare, which is devolved to the duchies.
