Pope Mervyk the Vogon ( born September 26, 2845) is the first and current pope Mordusia, as well as its sovereign, and the head of the Church of Mordus He was selected by the Prieuré de Mordus to papacy on 2945. It was not until 2967 that he became the sovereign of Mordusia.

Biography

Start in Politics

Mervyk the Vogon led a very quiet life until communists infested the Mordusian government. It was then that he decided to take action and took control of the Elitist Super Squad. He became the squad's chairman and was elected for the first time as Mordusia's Lord-Elect on 2917 . Under his leadership, the ESS passed economic and social reforms and Mordusia returned to normalcy. He was re-elected many more times with a only few short breaks in between. He was titled as Mordusia's Lord-Elect until 2967, the year he came Pope and sovereign of Mordusia.

The Papacy

After he was selected into papacy by the Prieuré, the ESS passed a series of bills that will turn Mordusia into a theocracy with Pope Mervyk as its head including requiring all Mordusians to convert to the Church of Mordus. This proved unpopular, however, and soon the ESS lost its majority leading to rise of the Royal Crown Alliance. The RCA, sensing the danger the Church could bring to the reinstatement of the Luthori monarchs, outlawed the Church of Mordus, dismissing it as a cult. The RCA's majority was short-lived, however, and the ESS soon overturned the laws the RCA has passed. The ESS also reinstated the Church of Mordus' status as the state religion and later changed the Constitution rendering Mervyk Pope and sovereign of Mordusia
