Early life and family[]

Mitsugira "Mimi" Arisetyowati was born on September 28, 2779 in Batang, near Kigami. Her parents were Ochiwaru Arisetyowati and Sirikit Abesuro. From the day she was born, her parents always called her "Mimi", a name she would use for herself the rest of her life.

She became a beauty queen. In 2799, she became Miss Indrala at age 20. Her photogenic face soon graced many of Indrala's magazine covers and she was named the "Muse of Kigami" by then president Thomas Eddie. In early 2800 he invited her and many other celebreties, actors and singers for a lush gala at the Presidential Palace. It was at this gala, on 25 January 2800, that Mimi first met Diosdado Hortál, a young army officer. Shortly after meeting, Mimi and Diosdado Hortál began to live together. They were married in May of that year at the National Orthodox Catholic Cathedral of Kigami. They have four children: Diosdado Hortál, Jr. (2801), Indira Hortál (2802) and "Bobo" Hortál (2804).

First Lady of Indrala (2808-2812)[]

Mrs. Hortál orchestrated lavish public events using millions of dollars in public funds to extol her husband's presidency and bolster her public image. She secured the Miss Terra 2810 pageant for Kigami which necessitated the construction and completion of the 10,000-seat Theater of the People in less than three months. Mrs. Hortál also organized an extravagant festival parade showcasing the history of Indrala, in 2811.

Mrs. Hortál was criticized for spending hundreds of millions of dollars on high-profile infrastructure projects that did little to alleviate poverty and were beyond the reach of ordinary Indralans, like the Mimi Hortal Cultural Center of Indrala. By 2812, it was estimated that the Indralan government had acquired more than $8 billion in foreign loans, much of it during President Hortál's four year presidency

Hortál's extravagant lifestyle reportedly included five-million-dollar shopping tours in Labonne, Libertia and Kien in 2810. She responded to criticisms of her extravagance by claiming that it was her "duty" to be "some kind of light, a star to give [the poor] guidelines." It was reported that, when the Hortáls fled to Rildanor in 2812, Rildanor Customs agents discovered 18 suitcases of gold bricks and diamond jewelry hidden in diaper bags, and Mrs. Hortál also was found to have taken with her 15 mink coats, 508 gowns, 888 handbags and 1060 pairs of shoes.
