Mircea I born Mircea Streza (3667-3755) was the Pápež of the Terran Patriarchal Church between 3746 and 3755. He has previously served as a parish priest in northern Ushalande parish of Lagărul Mutilării (3699-3746)

Early Life[]

Mircea Streza was born in 3667 to Corina Streza, then a teenage maidservant in the noble household of Filipescu. She was fired soon after and all her life, many suspected the father of her child was the noble master of the household Baron Mircea z Filipescu. The two returned to Corina's home village where they eked out a meagre living , continuing even after Corina got married to Vlad Streza a lay deacon in the village. Vlad adopted Mircea as his son and instilled the strong religious values Mircea held throughout his life.

Mircea proved a gifted student but his family's poverty greatly restricted his chances of success. He worked for a local nobleman for several years as a general hand and at the age of 28 finally attended the theological seminary Ushalande Poor Brothers College. From then on he was appointed the parish priest in 3799. He proved a headache for the Church from the start whether from an attempt to unionise clergy in the area or loudly condemning corruption in the Church. One Archbiskup of Ushalande is rumoured to placed a price on his head but he was forewarned by a devoted parishioner and escaped.

Streza built strong rapport with his parishioners and endeavored to improve their lives in all ways possible. He introduced literacy classes and often acted as a legal representative for them. His actions retarded the growth of his career and he remained a low parish priest despite an obvious talent for organisation and preaching.

His passion for the poor and hatred for corruption led him to a high profile spat with the administration of Papez Augustus III. He criticised the Papez's nepotism and was arrested sparking the Marchers movement of 3746. The hundreds of thousands of protesters marched on Dolinka and following Augustus III's sudden death, they pressured the Holy Sobor to elect Streza to the Pápežate.

Pápežate[]

The new Pápež declared himself a champion of the poor and introduced higher taxes on the wealthy in a bid to improve public services and fight poverty. He rejected the luxuries of the Apostolic Palace and instead moved into a two room cottage in the palace grounds. He dismissed all palace servants and hired his old housekeeper as his only personal servant. In foreign policy the Papez took a firmer and more aggressive line against countries he called the 'cancers of the day'. The nobles seized power leading to the restoration of the Czardom under theHouse of volkov. The Papez remained in Dolinka, under house arrest and died on May 11, 3755
