Miyako (都, Kunikata), also known by its Hulstrian name of Rothingren, is a city in the Crownland of Hilgar, and the capital of the Empire of Gao-Soto. It is also referred to as the Phoenix city (Kunikata: 鳳凰市 hou'ousi) for the heraldry of the city, which was the foundation for both the name of the Gao-Showan Phoenix Throne and the coat-of-arms of the Hulstrian Imperial House of Rothingren, which had its first noble seat in this area.
Makeup of the city[]
The city of Miyako has two city centres built close together due to its complex history. The Imperial Quarter is the centre of the ancient Gao-Showan city, which was left intact when the city was seized by the colonists in the 17th century and survived, although in a slight state of disrepair, until the modern era, when prior to the revival of Gao-Soto the city's Kunihito population took on care for the buildings, maintaining a charitable foundation to preserve its Gao-Showan heritage. This meant the city centre survived to become the new centre of admistration and the Imperial family during the Hulstria and Gao-Soto era. During Hulstrian times, the city centre moved close by to what is now called the Rothingren quarter, where the architecture is considerably more Western and the grand buildings still tell the story of the city that was once the princely seat of the Hulstrian Imperial family. Nowadays, the Gao-Showan and colonial influences in the city centre are surrounded by modern skyscraper architecture. The suburbs and outer neighbourhoods of Miyako differ widely in style and layout: some have primarily Western architecture, others are more inspired by traditional Kunihito architecture.
The city's airport is named Miyako International Airport Kurosawa the Great, after Okatori Kurosawa.
