This is a list of the Monarchs of Istalia who held the throne as Emperor of the Istalians under the First, Second and the Third and current Istalian Empire.

All the Emperors of the three Istalian Empires have belonged to the House of Appiano De Borromei.

Nicola I has been the first child born within the Imperial House under the Empire, founded just two months after his birth. He has been raised has an Imperial Prince and since his father was designed heir to the throne Nicola was fully formed to be a future emperor. He was also the first member of the family to contract a veritable dynastic marriage with Josephine of Hulstria. although it was also a true love marriage.

Alessandro II ascended to the throne as longest serving Grand Prince of the Crown of the imperial history of Istalia due to the long reign of his father. As son of the Emperor he was obviously rised to inherit the throne but following a personal interest, alongside political, diplomatic and military formation he studied also astronomy and later astrophisics.

Michela I ascended to the throne as first reigning Empress of the Istalian Empire. She didn't focused too much on the military formation prefering the international studies. She married the beloved Prince Ghazi who however died in 4675 in a car crash leaving alone the at the time Princess Michela and their son Prince Tommaso Hassan.

Tommaso I Hassan when ascended to the throne was serving as Imperial Regent since 4722 when his mother was diagnosed with Senile Dementia. Despite a troublesome youth marked by the absence of the prematuraly dead father, when adult he committed himself in his military carrier as well as to the State affairs with responsability and devotion.

Alessandro III Ghazi since its first years of reign was labelled as the Soldier Emperor due to his habit to usually wear the uniform of the Army attenting most of the institutional and public events and duties. Actually the military career within the Army was one of its greatest interests and he dedicated a lot of time to the military affairs of the country.

Nicola II succeeded to his father at the eve of a serious political crisis which interested the country during the first years of his reign and which forced him to firmly take a side between the opposing parties, a very unusual move for an Istalian Emperor although he firmly defended the Constitution and the personal freedoms of the Istalians. He married Mellony of Telamon, the sister of the unfortunate Raisa I of Telamon and Davostan, killed by the Kivonian regime.

Known for his deep love for his wife Empress Giulia Elettra, he reigned only for 3 years and 9 months before to suddenly and unexpectedly die for a never identified congenital heart malformation.

He ascended to the throne when he was 36 years old and thus he is the youngest Emperor to ascend to the Throne in the history of the Istalian Empire. Like his beloved grandfather also Tommosa married a princess of a foreign monarchy, Eugenié of Rildanor.

Descending directly from Tommaso II, last Emperor of the First Empire, as head of the House of Appiano De Borromei he was chosen as Emperor when the Empire was restored for the first time in 5074. His reign, however, lasted for just 6 years: in 5080 the sizing of power by part of far-leftist and anti-istalian parties abolished the monarchy and the restored united Istalian nation.

Younger son of Paolo Tommaso I, the Imperial crown was offered to him on occasion of the second Imperial restoration despite his father was still alive, but he was already 91 years old and thus judged as too old, and after his older sister Clarissa refused to take the throne.
