Noumonde, officially known as Federal Kingdom of Noumonde (Canrillaise: Royaume Fédéral de Noumonde or Mondesian: Kerajaan Persekutuan Noumonde), is a nation located on the western coast of Temania and which borders to the north with New Alduria and to the east and south with Temania.
Noumonde is a former colony of Rildanor and a medium-sized population of people who have both Canrillaise and Mondesian heritage (known as Noumondians) remain in the country. A very small population of ethnically Canrillaise people also resides within Noumonde. The population is mostly, however, comprised of the native Mondesian people.
The capital city of Noumonde, Nouville, is located on the coast of the colony and provides an entry point for most trade that enters Temania. The country's proximity to the World Congress headquarters at Whale Island, also give the former colony a small degree of importance diplomatically.
Despite the long lasting union with Rildanor, which considered Noumonde as part of the nation, the end of colonial government in Terra and consequent independence caused serious problems for Noumonde and its people. After independence, Canrillaise influence remained prevalent through the ruling Canrillaise House of Demitreus. Following the death of King Tristan, who left no heir, the nation descended into federal isolationism before reestablishing itself in the 48th century.
Noumonde was taken from the Canrillaise Nouveau monde, meaning "new world". Likewise, the capital, Nouville, was taken from Canrillaise for "new city" - Nouveau ville.
The colony of Noumonde was claimed by the Rildanorian government in the early 2560s and was officially formed in 2569 by an act of the Sénat. The formation of the colony came after negotiations with Alduria and Beiteynu, two countries with large claims to the entire continent. Rildanor sought a small piece of land on the western coast on the idea that it will be easier to maintain, defend, and legitimize the colony, as opposed to a large swath of land that is sparsely populated and developed.
After a millenium of colonial dominion, Rildanor withdrew from Noumonde in 3615, leaving a new independent nation. The loss of the ties with the motherland was a shock for Noumonde which fell into a spiral of economic, political and social regression until the House of Demitreus, former and last Royal Dynasty of Rildanor established an absolute monarchy supported by the military which controlled a police state in the 4235 under King Phillipe VI of the House of Demetrius, who became the 31st King of Noumonde since its independence (although this is disputed).
The line of Demetrius continued until King Tristan who ruled from January 4463 - September 4470 as an absolute monarch, and then from October 4470 to his death in 4501 as a constitutional monarch. Tristan had ruled over a significantly changing Noumonde, during which the Mondesian people claimed more power from the Canrillaise elite, and upon his death, with no children, the Demetrius dynasty ended.
Following the fizzling out of the royal dynasty, Noumonde fell into federal isolationism as the central government failed to hold onto control in the eastern regions of the country which felt unobliged to subjegate itself to the western predominantly Canrillaise-led coastal regions now that there was no means with which to subdue the east's rebelliousness. Thus centralised government broke down and Noumonde was ruled by a variety of monarchies and coalitions for next 200 years.
Government and PoliticsEdit
Noumonde is governed by a constitutional monarchy in which the king maintain large powers and prerogative.
Yang di-Berkhidmat Edit
The Yang di-Berkhidmat (literally "He who serves") is the King and Head of State of Noumonde. The position is presumed to be elective, although there has been no precedence set for succession. Once elected Yang di-Berkhidmat, the title-holder remains the King for the rest of his life. The style used to address the title holder is "Your Majesty," or more in third person, "His/Her Majesty". The current King of Noumonde is Perwira bin Tehan.
The King alone makes up the executive of the country, although he is able to consult advisers as he wishes. Decisions around declaring war and foreign policy are entirely decided by the King. He also has the ability to veto any law passed by either the national or local legislatures, with the exception of the national budget and taxation over which he has no control.
Parlimen Noumonde Edit
The nation has a bicameral system with an elected lower chamber, the Perhimpunan Kebangsaan (National Assembly), and an appointed upper chamber, the Dewan Tiga Belas (Council of the Thirteen). Together both chambers make up the Parlimen Noumonde (Parliament of Noumonde).
Political Parties Edit
The nature of the federal system in Noumonde means that many states vote for state-specific parties, such as the Masijima Party which only runs in Masijima. Whilst inter-state parties do exist very few parties contest seats in all thirteen states (with the exception being the Federalist Party). Consequently it is impossible for a single-party majority to occur within the system.
This leads to long-standing coalition arrangements being formed, with larger political umbrella groups banding together within the National Assembly. Currently there are three Assembly Groups: the Noumondian Conservative Alliance, the Thirteen States Movement, and the Eastern Mondesian Front.
Members of the assembly that do not align with any party are referred to as "Bebas" or independents and take their seats independent of any party whip.
Religion plays a significant role in the majority of Noumondans' daily lives. Ahmadism is dominant within the country with over three-quarters of the population ascribing to it. The Ahmadic population is split up between Israists, the most common form of Ahmadism, and Sahabism, a more esoteric and mystical form of Ahmadism. Noumonde is the only country in Terra with a significant Sahabist population. This can partly be explained due to a millenium's worth of colonisation by strictly Hosian nations forcing a greater degree of secularism amongst the Ahmadi population. The strand of Ahmadism has also proven popular to the Noumondian population who see Sahabism as an amalgamation of their Noumonde-based religious heritage, and their Canrillaise-progressive heritage.
There is a small Hosian population within Noumonde, which is almost entirely Aurorianism. The Hosian population is primarily made up of the Canrillaise and some of the less mixed Noumondians and is rarely practiced outside of the major coastal cities.

The Noumonde Royal Army in fact is a real political force if not a "constitutional force", recognized also by the constitution, which determined many time the national politics, through numerous golpe and military junta periods. The Army, which include under a single organization all the branches of the armed forces, is tasked with the defence of the Nation, while a large military gendarmerie force is tasked of the maintenance of internal order. The military so have the powers of police authority and control also the borders and the main seats of the power.
People and SettlementEdit

A government-issued Noumonde Action and Strategy plan developed in 2568 committed Rildanor to a 10-year plan to populate Noumonde with 1 million Rildanorians. 1 billion crowns were set aside as an incentive for those who chose to settle in the colony, but many seeking a new beginning or a simple adventure were eager to take on the life of a settler. The native peoples of Noumonde, which number roughly at 34,000 were allowed to keep their traditions and settlements, but were nonetheless encouraged to integrate to the Rildanorian culture and, as a result of that policy, were forced to follow Rildanorian law.
In 2579, a new Action and Strategy plan was implemented to triple the colony's population to 3 million. Immigration to the colony focused on four major settlements: Rennes, Nordeaux, Lille, and Charlesbourg. Rennes, as the colonial capital, received the main focus of development and should, after the development period, have the capacity for at least 1,000,000 people. Nordeau, Lille, and Charlesbourg shall be located deeper into Noumonde in order to solidify control over the area and should have the capacity to support 300,000 people each. Minor settlements were established in other, more remote areas, especially in areas of economic interest (mines, farmland, oil fields, etc). More than 55 billion crowns were allocated for the development of these settlements and its infrastructure. A partnership with the private sector covered other start-up costs, as well as to stimulate commerce and growth.
