Administrative divisions of Istalia: the thicker green lines mark the region borders
The Regions of Istalia (Istalian: Regioni d'Istalia) are the second-level admnistrative divisions of the country. According to the Imperial Constitution of 5102, the top-level political divisions of Istalia are two Federal Communities, known as the Sarrentine Federal Community and the Federal Community of Alaria. There are five regions, three in the Sarrentina Peninsula, namely Fidelia, Ferano, and Trivendito, and two on the island of Alaria, Nicoma and Cisavugli.
Each region is furthermore divided in four provinces (Istalian: Province), named after their capitals, and they are intermediate territorial divisions between the regions and the municipalities (Istalian: Comuni).
The government of each region is formed by a monocratic executive office, called Governor (Istalian: Governatore), and a legislative assembly, called Regional Council (Istalian: Consiglio Regionale). The residents of the regions elect directly the Governor with a two round majority system while the Councils are elected with a proportional system.
