Following a stroke that left Maximilian Berleburg incapicated, the Imperial Diet moved to replace Berleburg in an emergency session, led by StaatsministerVitus von der Mar, that gave the power to appoint an acting Governor-General to serve out the rest of his term to the monarchy in the Act of Governor-General Succession. The Kaiser appointed Foreign Minister Eduard von Strauss and the Diet unanimously confirmed him. Strauss would serve out the rest of Berleburg's, which was under a year, and general elections were scheduled in March of 3055. Berleburg died a month after Strauss took office.
With Berleburg dead, it hit the Faschistische Gewalt-Partei hard. Berleburg was one of the strong leaders of the party and was seen as a trusted, respected statesman. A period of mourning ensued in the party and around the nation. The party did recover however and remained active under the Strauss administration. The National Congress of the FGP voted in to name Chairman, and long-time Minister of Education & Culture, Korneuschlag as the party's candidate for the Governor-General's office in the upcoming March general elections. Russell von Korneuschlag garnered victory in the contest and became the Governor-General of Greater Hulstria. Korneuschlag would serve at this position for nine years. Following retirement Korneuschlag remained on as a senior advisor for the Faschistische Gewalt-Partei.
