Trigunia (Rodshyan: Трыгуния, tr. Tryguniya), officially known as the Great Princedom of Trigunia (Rod.: Великое Княжество Трыгуния; tr. Velikoye Knyazhestvo Tryguniya), is a country located off the north-western coast of Keris. South of Trigunia's coast across the Green Sea and Sea of Deliverance lies the nations of the New Endralon and Kizenia and the Dolgava respectively. Geographically the country is an island nation, and ranks as the twenty first largest country with an area of 1,300,800 km.

Trigunia has seen several periods of extreme political polarization. Trigunia was home to the foundation of the United Kerissian Socialist Republic and its numerous successor states, it has also had periods of extreme autocratic periods under various monarchies. Trigunia is home to the Trigunian people, who are also called Rodshyan. They primarily speak Rodshyan, which is also sometimes called Trigunian. The second largest population is the Kozaki, who call Zarvospol home along with the Zarvosen people. The Kozaki speak a close form of Rodshyan but have minor differences, the majority of the Zarvosen people speak Zarvosen which is similar to Rodshyan but again, like Kozaki, different.

History[]

Main article: History of Trigunia

Trigunia was first established as a colony of Great Deltaria in the 18th century. Before that it was inhabited by several indigenous ethnic groups, some of them related to peoples in north Seleya, Makon, and Dovani. During Deltarian colonial rule many Delic people settled in Trigunia, leading to the birth of the Trigunian people. After gaining independence in 1954 Trigunia experienced periods of communism, liberal democracy, and constitutional monarchy. The most influential of Trigunia's monarchist periods is the personal union with Greater Hulstria under the House of Rothingren-Traugott, during which time the Hulstrian people came to prominence in Trigunia, and Trigunian culture was heavily Hulstrianized. Although several native monarchies and republican regimes aimed to distance Trigunia from Hulstrian influence, it remains a major component of Trigunian culture. The indigenous peoples of Trigunia retain a significant proportion of the population, and in recent years have reclaimed some of their lost prominence.

Government and politics[]

Executive[]

Trigunia is a semi-presidential republic with an executive Head of State, the President of the Trigunian Federation (Rodshya: Президент Тригунской Федерации, transl. Prezident Trigunskoy Federatsii) acts as the head of state. The head of state is responsible for the appointment of the Prime Minister of the Trigunian Federation who also appoints the Council of Ministers. However, the cabinet needs always of a vote of confidence by part the legislature to be confirmed.

Legislative[]

The legislative power is vested in the State Duma (Rodshyan: Государственная Дума; tr. Gosudarstvennaya Duma), the unicameral legislature of the nation. It is comprised of 600 deputies. The Chairperson of the State Duma leads the State Duma, it includes a number of committees responsible for the management of policy areas of the government.

Judicial[]

The judiciary of Trigunia is overseen by the Ministry of Justice but is considered to be independent. The highest court in Trigunia is the Constitutional Court of Trigunia (Rodshyan: Конституционный суд Тригунии; tr. Konstitutsionnyy sud Trigunii) which handles matters related to the constitution. The Constitutional Court consists of 19 members, it is lead by an appointed Chairperson and a Deputy Chairperson; each of these leads a chamber of the Constitutional Court. The Chairperson leads the first chamber consisting of 10 members and the Deputy Chairperson leads the second chamber consisting of 9 members; these Constitutional Court judges are all appointed by the head of state (or head of government in a monarchy situation).

Underneath the Constitution Court is the Supreme Court of Trigunia (Rodshyan: Верховный суд Тригунии; tr. Verkhovnyy sud Trigunii) which is comprised of 100 members and divided into a number of chambers or colleges: these include Civil, Criminal, Administrative, Economic, Military and Appeals. These chambers/colleges are responsible for their respective judicial areas. The Supreme Court is headed by the Presidium of the Supreme Court which includes the Chairperson of the Presidium, the Deputy Chairperson of the Presidium, the Deputy Chairpersons of each of the six chambers/colleges, and five other Supreme Court judges. The Presidium serves as the final appellate jurisdiction for Trigunia.

Underneath the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court are regional courts, these include oblast courts, city courts and other jurisdictional courts.

As per the "Law on the Administrative Divisions of the Tsardom of Trigunia" which was passed by the State Duma in February 4618 there are now 5 "Federal Subjects" (Rodshyan: Субъект федерации; tr. Sub"yekt federatsii) that make up the former "regions" sometimes called "oblasts". These five regions are Brakav also known as Tirgith, the home of the Hulstro-Trigunians and Hulstrians and the individual island of Trigunia; Radin and Zarvosopol which make up the central island and Lesnov and Vrosnok which make up the eastern island. Each of these Federal Subjects has an appointed "State Envoy" that is appointed by the Viceroy of Trigunia and approved by the Great Prince and Tsar.

These "Federal Subjects" are in turn divided into different "Regions" known in Rodshyan as "Oblast" and elect their own Governor's and are assisted by an "Oblast Council" of 125 seats held in conjunction with national elections. Underneath the Oblast's are a number of "Districts" known Rodshyan as "Raions". The Trigunian government as means to quell religious or political dissent sometimes create special "Republics", which are ruled semi-autonomously, however they are considered to be that of an oblast. The only created republic as of April, 4515 was the Abreken Republic, located on Lesnov and is comprised of mostly ethnic Ahmadi Trigunians. It was dismantled by the "Law on the Administrative Divisions of the Tsardom of Trigunia".

Economy[]

Main article: Economy of Trigunia

The Trigunian economy is considered to be a post-industrial economy with a heavy focus on the extraction, refinement and sale of precious metals, rare earth minerals and oil and gas products. The currency of Trigunian is the Trigunian Rabol (ℜ) which is produced by the State Bank of Trigunia.

A strong financial sector began to develop with the creation of the National Chamber of Commerce and the overall Mashkov Reforms which eventually developed into a sovereign wealth fund for the Triguinian government. The financial sector in Trigunia is foten considered to be a bastion for those with whom the more "Western" or "Northern" nations to be too unsavory. Trigunia is also a world leading in rare and precious earth metals including uranium, coal, cobalt and others. It cannot be mistaken that a huge part of Trigunia's economy is that of arms exporting, it is believed by the World Congress that Trigunia is the worlds leading exporter of military arms. All arm sales are managed through Triboronexport, the state-owned corporation responsible for managing and overseeing all arms sales.

Oil and gas operations of Trigunia are solely handled by the state-owned Trigunian Petroleum Company (Rodshyan: Тригунианская нефтяная компания; tr. Trigunianskaya neftyanaya kompaniya) often called Neftkomp. Trigunia, despite political ideology has generally always had a state-owned oil and gas corporation which is largely responsible for all upstream and downstream activities within the nation. There have been several periods of privatization but they have all largely been unsuccessful. According to the World Congress Trigunia ranks as a "Tier III" producer of oil, natural gas and oil petroleum-based products alongside Badara, Kafuristan, Vascania and Jakania. Trigunia is a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Nations (OPEN).

Geography[]

Trigunia Physical

Physical map of Trigunia.

Trigunia is a series of three major islands and several minor islands located on the continent of Keris. The largest of the three islands is Slambov which contains the regions of Radin (formerly Chadonia) and Nizmennosti (formerly Yulrath); it is also historically called Lesser Chadonia. The second largest is the island of Kirikan which contains the regions of Lesnov (formerly Milrata) and Vrosnok (formerly Kalliosaari); it is also historically called Chadonia and sometimes incorrectly called Itäsaari. The smallest of the three major islands is Tirgith which contains the region of Brakav; Tirgith is one of the few islands that has remained generally called the same for a large portion of its history. The most notable smallest island is Great Bear Island located off the southern coast of Lesnov.

Trigunia has a total land area of 1,300,800 km² (808,279.647 mi²) and is the 21st largest nation on Terra by land area. Trigunia is bordered by the White Ocean to the north and northwest, the Green Sea to the southwest and the Anantonese Ocean to the south. The Straits of Trigunia, sometimes called the Straits of Tirgith or Deliverance Pass (which applies more to the eastern portion near Lesnov and Vrosnok).

Climate[]

Trigunia has the highest latitude of any country, it stretches from 52° North at the southern tip of Tirgith to 64° North at the northern tip of Slambov. The nation is close to the polar circle at 66° 56' North. Due to the high latitude, there are large seasonal variations in daylight. From late May to late July, the sun never completely descends beneath the horizon in areas north of Polar Circle and the rest of the country experiences up to 20 hours of daylight per day; conversely from late November to late January, the sun never rises above the horizon in the north, and daylight hours are very short for the rest of the country.

Coastal areas, particularly in the north are subject to intense storms, wind, and rain. In the winter, temperatures average between -11°C and 1°C, and in summer between 6°C and 15°. The seas assist in moderating the temperatures and the weather; the exception being the interior of Slambov around the mountainous areas. The northern portions of Kirikan are windswept and stormy, some might cite them as "inhospitable". The western portion of Slambov often see stormy weather but the high hills and mountains protect the coastal plain leading to a good climate and moderate winters.

Flora and Fauna[]

- western Chadonia is evergreen forests; as is most southern of Yulrath

- southern coast along the coastal plains is more temperate forests or open meadow land

- northern coast of Chadonia & nearly all of Itäsaari is rugged & rocky with few trees, mostly low grassland, lichens & mosses

- most northern areas have layers of permafrost; however, most of the islands do not

- largest mammals on island, mostly Chadonia, are Severnyj olen (Reindeer), & Trigunskiĭ medvedʹ (Trigunian Bear), mostly on Itäsaari is Severnaya poni (Northern Pony)

- large number of polar bird species flock to the islands in the spring and autumn

- birds include puffins, wrens, etc.

(Culture Minister Andrei Ivanovich Volkonsky, 2905)

In Trigunia, the majority of the population is Hosian, comprising roughly 84% of the Trigunian population. The largest percentage belong to the Terran Patriarchal Church and Trigunia has contributed significantly throughout its history towards the TPC and the TPC hosts some of the most popular and largest churches in Trigunia. The second largest blend of Hosianism is the Apostolic Church of the East, while significantly smaller it does possess a notable percentage of the population. The remainder belong to the Aurorian Patriarchal Church, the smallest of the followers of Hosianism. The Confessional Church of Trigunia is often considered to have a hold, largely with the Hulstro-Trigunians and accounts largely for the "other" in the Trigunian religious breakdown.

The second largest religion in Trigunia is that of Ahmadism, namely Israism with Sahabism making up the second largest component of Ahmadism. The presence of Ahmadism is largely routed in trad with Majatra as well as Trigunia often playing a counter-weight to traditional political powers across Terra. A vast majority of the Ahmadi's in Trigunia are Vlozen (OOC: Chechen) and can be found in the former Abreken Republic, mostly in the Chaykoshov mountains.
