I've been doing the Dorvish election pages for quite a while now. Like most PT wiki election pages, sadly I don't have time to make them fleshed out due to work.
I'm writing this blog post to discuss ways that PT election pages can be more commonplace. I don't know if a few people will see this or nobody will see this - I know personally I don't really see blog posts on the PT wiki, let alone read them.
Some of the ideas I've came up with are as follows: using written templates; standardisation; involving people.
Firstly, using written templates. Templates are a great way to cut down on election page meddling. Having a set pattern of words with gaps for respective information massively cuts down the amount of time needed to spend on the page, while leaving it looking fleshed out. I'm hoping the PT wiki community can come up with some good ones and start using them to make eleciton pages fleshed out. An example would be 'The [nation name] [eleciton type] election of [election year] was held on the [date] [month] [year] to decide the [HoS title] of [nation name] and the make up of the [parliament name]'. Hopefully you get the idea.
Second is standardisation. There are plenty of different styles used across the wiki, but a good place to start with wiki election pages is to have a set system of sections for those unable to fit in the time. This could be:
- Presidential Eleciton
-- Candidates
--- Party 1
--- Party 2
-- Campaign
--- Endorsements
-- Results
--- Reaction
Thirdly we have the final idea: getting people involved. Those seeking to create a national election page and keeping it up to date should try to get everyone they can in their nation to chip in if they so wish. This shouldn't be mandatory, but in many nations there will likely be someone willing to help. Always talk out ideas and who is doing what, so no arguements will arise. But otherwise, it should massively cut down time in producing pages.
