From late 4146 onwards, Valruzia and Aldegar were in a period of high tension as a result of prior diplomatic disputes between Baltusia and Aldegar[1].
Background[]
Tension between Aldegar and Valruzia arose from previous, long-running disputes between Aldegar and Baltusia. The Aldegarian National Party accused the Baltusian government of encouraging terrorism within Aldegar, while affirming that Shahnam I of Aldegar was the rightful ruler of Baltusia.
Meanwhile, Baltusia interrogated and tortured an Aldegarian citizen , who they believed to be the cousin of a suspect in the murder of a Baltusian Congressman, and the complete expulsion of over 500,000 Aldegarians.
Valruzian Involvement[]

In late 4146, the Valruzian government threatened a complete aerial and naval blockade of their southern neighbour if they did not comply with the terms they outlined [2]. According to the Valruzian government, the sources of their indignation was the decision by the National Divan to withdraw recognition of Baltusia. Specifically, they opposed the phrasing;
"The Government of His Most High Majesty the Shah of Aldegar imposes the following demands upon the Baltusian government;- an immediate and full apology for their incorrect attribution of a terrorist attack to Aldegar
- an immediate and full apology for their heinous besmirching of the good name of our nation - the surrender into Aldegarian custody of the alledged terrorists, to enable Aldegarian authorities to seek the truth concerning who seeks to plunge us into conflict
-recognition that it is the right of the Shah, as an indivdiual with individual freedoms and rights, and the right of His successors, as individuals with individual freedoms and rights, to claim the Baltusian throne."
The Aldegarian response was to reaffirm their sovereignty and assure Valruzia that they had not engaged in any aggressive behaviour. The issue was brought to the attention of the World Congress General Assembly [3], where Valruzia was condemned by the Federation of Zardugal and the United Republic of Kalistan.
