Wali Thomas was born Walter Thomas on the 9th September 2250 in Tref Sianti, Elbian, Dranland. His early life is notable by his total lack of involvment in politics. While the rich Welsh of Mynydd Mawr created and disbanded Plaid Gyfreithiol Cymru, Thomas was struggling to reach his teenage years in the depravity of Tref Sianti.
Thomas lost his wife in 2303 when bulldozers flattened the city of Mynydd Mawr. Showing some of the insight which would later lead him to power Thomas suspected that the Welsh in Dranland were in trouble and fled to Gishoto. Doing so kept him safe as the Welsh faced genocide in his homeland.
Within a few years of settling in Gishoto Thomas set up the Refuge Pressure Party, and three months later found himself leading his adopted nation. After starting so dramatically, his political career was unprecedently quiet. Even when the RPP-led coalition lost their majorit, no-one dared challenge Thomas' authority.
In 2313 Thomas won the Hero of Terra award for his work to solve the so-called Welsh Question and for disbanding Gishoto's nuclear arsenal.
Thomas finally lost his position as Comrade Chairman when his previous allies, the Gao-Showa Peoples' Party turned on him and, between two seperate coalition proposals, asked every other Gishoto parties to join them. The opposition parties gladly did so and Thomas' reign was over.
In 2330 Thomas resigned as party leader and was replaced by George Huws. He now lives a retired life in the mountains of Hulstria.
